Hi everyone!
My name is Aoife Molloy, and I am delighted to be representing you as your Education Officer for the coming year!
I’d love to say a quick welcome (or welcome back) to WIT after what has been a very odd year. As Education Officer, I am here to assist students on anything to do with the academic side of college life. This includes supporting class reps in their roles, organizing campaigns to ensure that you get the best out of your learning experience, and helping students look after individual queries, on anything from exams, to repeats, to timetables, to SUSI issues. No matter what the question is, please don’t hesitate to drop in to the SU building or send any of the team a quick email – we’re here to help you! And don’t worry – when you come in to chat to me, your confidentiality and well-being is my absolute priority.
This year, I want to make sure that students that are new to campus – such as our incoming first years, our current second years, and even some of our third years – have the tools and skills they need to adjust to returning to learning in an in-person environment. COVID has meant that many of you have missed out on the benefits of in-person classes, and the experience of in-person assessment, such as exams. As Education Officer, I will be looking after your Class Reps and School Officers for the year. These are elected students who are the link between the Students’ Union and the student body. Being a Class Rep is an amazing opportunity to make sure that your classmates’ voices are heard and that you have a say in the issues that affect you, so I would definitely encourage everyone who is thinking of running to be a Class Rep to just go for it!
College is a really exciting time, but we all need a bit of a hand now and then. Please reach out to myself or any of the other Officers with questions and queries – that’s what we’re here for.
I can’t wait to meet all of you this year!
